Last Sunday I participated in the Shibuya Ekiden (4x2.9k) which is held in Yoyogi Park. All the Namban teams did great, again we swept the Podium in all divisions. I was the finish runner of my team and we won by a wide margin. Not because I was that fast but because my other team mates Cptn Fabrizio, Yoshida-san and Jay went out strong and gave me a huge margin over the runner up team. Well, crossing the finish line and feeling the tape is very, very special, I can tell you. Thanks again, mates!
After the race quit a few Nambans went to the Imperial Palace for the long run. We covered 30k=6 rounds with progressive speed from 5min pace to ca. 4min pace, averaging 4:30min pace. After the run we had some lunch. It was a great day.
Next week will be Shinjuku HM and I already got the postcard from the organizers. However, my brother-in-law will visit us next weekend and so I am not able to run Shinjuku. Would not have been a major disaster if I would not have run a race prior to Tokyo. But luckily I was offered to run Kanagawa HM, which is on Feb. 3. and viola, here is my race preparation for Tokyo. Since the race is only two weeks before Tokyo M, I will not spend too much time thinking about my goal pace. Just go there, run MT pace for the first 10k and then hard for the last few k. But most important: having a lot of fun with many Nambanners.
