it's about time...

...to call a goal for Ohtawara Marathon on 23 Nov.
My physical training will be finished tomorrow when I'll be running 30k or so.
After that, the two week Taper will start. Taper phase is very different from the other training phases. These two weeks are reserved for mental preparation. Have to think about a Goal time and my race strategy. In 2004 I ran my PB in Rom. 2:47:35 translated to a sub4min pace for each kilometer. Still think that this was by far my best Marathon performance. Now I am 5 years older and again, I am thinking about a sub4min pace...! Yes, I want to beat my current PB this time in Ohtawara. My preparation was pretty decent, I even ran some MT pace runs. Not as many as some of our Namban club members do, but at least a 10k run here and there. Did a long run almost every weekend and recovered from my first Ultra. The performance level in Ohtawara is high, will have a lot of company at that pace, so no worries. Just the wind, that could cause a problem. Will have to wait for the race day. Taper starts soon, have to wait and see.

I am surprized to know that you are going to run for your PB after your first ultra! Brave man! So the ultra was only a long run for this PB attempt marathon, wasn't it? ;-) It's only 42k, man. Go for it!

go Joachim, you can do it!
as long as you don't `touch' my PB we can still be friends ;-)

let's hope for good wind conditions.

I plan to do the 10k (not all out) and after that add another loop on the Marathon course to get a decent long run, I offer to act as a wind shield from time to time - at least as long as I can keep up with your pace ;-)

Thanks, Mika! Hope I can get some benefit out of the Ultra. Christian, I may take your word and follow you for some km ;-)
