ran a Marathon today...

...and I feel tired but happy. Well, the reason why I covered the classic distance of 42.195 km was that I have a new goal for this year. My "usual goal" is to run one Standard sub3-Marathon per year. Since I could train pretty consistently for Tokyo, I ran a solid 2:56 there in February already. Since I will not be in the position to attack my PB in the next months, I was looking for another goal. Recently, I talk with Yoshida-san about running races beyond the classical distance. He told me about all the things which come up during such a run. "You can never feel this in a standard Marathon", he told me. Back in May, I was in Germany and I could talk with Ryan Shakal. He is a real Ultra-Runner. In 2007 he ran the Sparthathlon, a 250km race through Greek. Check out his report here. I guess he lighted a small flame which got fully ignited by Yoshida-san. Well, have to admit that I want to apply for the Echigo Kubikino 100km Ultra in Niigata. The run will be held on Oct. 11 in the beautiful area of Niigata prefecture. I don't call this event a race for now ;-) . So, because of this, my training plan vicsystem called for a 41km run today. Of course, I could not resist to run the extra kilometer ;-)
The pictures shows the route: From my home in Kamakura to Taura, back to Kamakura, passing Enoshima island and back home again. Was a little warm and I felt quit done after the run. But, as I said, very happy with my decision to train for my first Ultra. Will keep you posted, folks!
