smoke is clearing...
Have a feeling that your comments on yesterdays run are very valid...! Thanks for your feedback, guys. Guess it was kind of stupid not having a proper breakfast and doing the long run without any energy gel. To be very frank, I had no dinner on Saturday evening as well. Last time I did the 65k, I fueled properly and had two Squeezes during the run. This time I wanted the long run to be extra hard but looks like I wasn't up to it. Had a good sleep, my HR was low this morning, no sign of overtraining. Yesterdays run was a new data point in unchartered territory.

No dinner!!!! Joachim are you insane?
There are many ways of making a training run hard apart from not eating! Ultra runners are always going on and on about all the stuff they eat!
Good luck.Train hard and smart.
(not that I do either I may add)
I should have followed the eating habits of the Sumo wrestlers, I guess...
Regarding your remark about running into unchartered terrain: You never know until you go.
Now you know.
Well, I for one don't think it is insane. Yes, of course one will eat a lot in an ultra, but the idea of training is to train and that includes training the body to burn fat for energy by training with depleted glycogen reserves. I suppose the more important question is whether you had enough time for the body to actually learn its lesson and be better at burning fat in a couple of weeks ... what date are we looking at for this damn 120 km of madness?
